![]() ![]() I was impressed with the overall portion sizes and both of us ended up taking half of our sandwiches home as we simply couldn't finish. The service was a shade slow and we had to check on our orders. I had the Hot Focaccia sandwich and my host had the Bostonian. Fortunately, the line moved quickly and the staff seemed pretty efficient. We arrived about 11:45 AM which put us slightly ahead of the lunch crowd but there was still a pretty good line that came up to the door. The office was only about two blocks away so we walked over and I got an impromptu tour of downtown Riverside, which was interesting, in and of itself. The food remains good but not extraordinary to keep me as a regular customer.I was working out in Riverside on business and the client suggested we stop by here for lunch. While I have eaten here multiple times during the last 3 years, I will try other nearby restaurants. Have never tried their desserts but they look appetizing. Beverages include the usual assortment of sodas, iced tea, coffees, milk, limited beer and wine, etc. Serve yourself with drinks, napkins, utensils, straws, etc. Sandwiches are served with a choice of sides. Average size bowlful served with cornbread. Had their deluxe vegetarian chili and it was very tasty but not spicy. Tables could have been bused more frequently than was done during this visit. The decor is old with wood paneled walls and booths and is maintained well. Location is across the plaza from the Mission Inn. Many booths and tables but it can get crowded. Extensive menu for both breakfast and lunch. ![]() Restaurant is open Mon-Fri 7:00am to 5:00pm, Sat 7:30am to 4:00pm and closed on Sun. Then we saw a sign in the window that explained it all, it was a notice of transfer of ownership. My wife suggested that maybe we not be so anxious to return and I agreed. It turned out to be less than a thirty minute wait. While I was eating, I noticed the other kid had his thumb in someone's salad that he was delivering. ![]() I almost said," take your thumb off my sandwich", but I decided to ignore it. I spotted our order coming, but I could see his thumb resting on my sandwich as he was carrying it. There were two teenage boys, delivering sandwiches to tables. I told her my issue and she re checked the total and confirmed that I was overcharged seventeen dollars, she gave me a cash refund for the difference. I went to the cashier, she was no where to be found and there was a line forming of people waiting to pay( looking back, I guess that is not an issue when there is a 30 minute wait for food )apparently, she went to the storeroom to get cups. The receipt wasn't itemized, but there were twelve prices listed and we only ordered eight. We sat down and waited for food and I looked at the receipt because it seemed like a high price. The cashier didn't know what that was, she only knew it was a ginger beer, no problem, "You learn something every day", she said. ordered a beef club sandwich, a chicken sausage sandwich, two cookies, a pecan bar, a lemon bar and two beverages, one drink ordered was a Bundarberge. I was told that there was a lot of online orders. I looked around and there was hardly a line so I asked why. Upon arrival at 1:00 on Monday, we were informed that it would take 30-45 minutes before lunch would be ready.
